19.01.2015 Rydon v Ashburton

It was a great win for the A Team against a well organised Ashburton side. The first half saw Rydon have the majority of possession, which led to a 2-0 score line at half-time. The second half saw a minor set back for Rydon, who conceded an early goal. Some great play then saw a wonder goal scored to put Rydon 3-1 ahead and this was the score line at the end of the game. Well done Rydon!

14.1.15 Teign Leaders in to show Year 4 some skills!

It was great to see a group of Year 10 Teign Sport Leaders come in to Rydon to run a fun-filled lunchtime session. Each group did a different range of activities based on sport. Year 4 thoroughly enjoyed working with the Teign students and gained a lot of ideas which they will be able to use in game situations. Thank you Teign!

12.1.2015 Year 5/6 Football v St Michaels

On a wet and windy Monday, the Year 5/6 A and B Football Teams played against St Michaels. The A Team were first to play and what a match it was! Rydon took an early lead before St Michaels equalised. After half-time, some great foot work saw Rydon take a 3-1 lead, which was then followed up by two thunderous shots which rattled St Michaels’ crossbar. St Michaels then pulled a goal back to make it 3-1 before a late penalty was awarded and scored. The match finished in a draw - Rydon 3 St Michaels 3.

However, there was no time to catch your breath as the B Team were on next. Rydon’s defence was stalwart, but as a result of some horrific weather conditions, St Michaels took an early lead. Some great passing saw Rydon come close on several occasions, which produced some excellent saves from the opposing keeper. After the first half, which unfortunately saw Rydon B 2-0 down, the team produced some world class passing that opened up the St Michaels defence and clinical finishing saw Rydon B pull a goal back. With minutes to spare, Rydon were pushing hard for an equaliser. Unfortunately, St Michaels managed to get another late goal which saw the game finish 3-1.

All the Rydon players played brilliantly and several comments from spectators mentioned the high standard of play as well as how exciting both games had been.

A big thank you must go to the parents who helped with transport and supported all of the children in some horrendous weather conditions.
