On Thursday 19th June the year 5/6 cricket team headed off for a tournament at Shaldon Cricket Club. It was a scorching hot, sunny day and a superb location to be in with such wonderful weather! We played our first 2 matches as part of the group stage and were successful in both, which meant we had a place in the final. We faced Ipplepen in the final match, at first we were a little intimidated by their overarm bowling and their professionalism. Ipplepen played impressively and were very good a batting but our fielding matched them and we were able to reduce their run scoring and also got some of them out! Our batting was steady and consistent. Unsure of the final scores, we felt proud to have played so well and had really enjoyed our afternoon. Amazingly, we were announced as the overall winners, actually winning by over 20 runs!!! Fantastic!!!
Well done girls, you all played really well and deserved your T Shirts and Trophy.

12.6.2014 School Partnership Rounders Tournament
On Thursday 12th June, the Year 6 Rounders' Team headed off to South Dartmoor Community School for a tournament. Having only had a very limited amount of practise, we were a bit nervous at the start. As we warmed up to playing, we found our form and managed to win the first 2 matches against Decoy and Bovey Tracey's B Team. These victories secured us a place into the winning teams' final. Facing Shaldon and Bovey Tracey's A Team was going to be a challenge as we had previously watched them score heavily. Battling throughout, we were involved in a close game against Bovey Tracey but we were overpowered by some excellent scoring and unfortunately we lost the encounter. We were undeterred and prepared ourselves for the next game positively. Shaldon were outstanding in both their fielding and batting and even with our best efforts we sadly lost but were proud, safe in the knowledge that we had tried our best. Overall, it was a most enjoyable hot, sunny and fun afternoon. Many thanks to all of the parents who helped with transport and for their support during the game.
11.6.2014 Friendly Cricket vs Highweek
On Wednesday, Rydon played Highweek at the Rec. It was a lovely day and great cricket was played. Rydon scored 178 runs in their two innings which was only narrowly beaten by 11 runs. This was an amazing result seeing as the Rydon team was Year 4 and Highweek were Year 6! Great team leadership from Jake with some excellent fielding from all members of the team meant that the game was decided on the last over! Well done!

20.5.14 Rydon Football Champions!
On Tuesday evening, the Year 5/6 B team played the Primary School's B Team Final against Chudleigh. Rydon made a great start with an early goal and then added two more before half time. Another three goals were added in the second half to make the final score an incredible 6-0!! Special mentions go to Harry for scoring a superb hat-trick! Also to Luke, who made two world class saves to keep a clean sheet. However, every member of the team played brilliantly and contributed to the win.
Well done Rydon!!!!
Well done Rydon!!!!
19.5.14 Dartmoor 3 Ball Festival
On Monday, children from Year 3 were invited to take part in a Dartmoor 3 Ball Festival at Teign. It was a fun and active morning with only a few showers putting a halt in play. The children took part in several activities linked to the game and hopefully this will continue in school.
